Data Protection Notice

Dear users of the KuB services,

Since May 2018 the European Union applies new regulations concerning data protection (General Data Protection Regulation, GDPR). Therefore, we are obliged to provide following information to you:

• Why do we need your data?
• When and how is your data stored?
• Is your data passed on?

You will also be informed about your rights.

Why do we need your data?

In order to provide good advice to you, we might need details about you (personal data). This might include the following:

• Name,
• date of birth,
• address,
• country of origin,
• copies of your passport,
• copies of documents issued by the Foreigners' Registration Office,
• copies of documents issued by the court or the police,
• data of your lawyer,
• data of your social worker,
• data of your supporters.

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) of the European Union provides for such usage of your data. This is stipulated in Article 6 (1) (b) of the GDPR; in Article 6 (1) (a) of the GDPR, and/or, respectively, in Article 9 (2) (a) of the GDPR.

Where do we send your data?

We only pass on your data to other persons or authorities with your permission. This can be lawyers, authorities, courts, doctors, social workers or your supporters.

For how long do we store your data in the KuB?

We store your data as long as we need it for the counselling. Digital documents are deleted after 3 years. Paper records are destroyed 3 years after the last session.

What are your rights?

• You have the right to learn which data we have stored about you (Article 15 of the GDPR).
• You have the right to demand that we correct inaccurate data (Article 16 of the GDPR).
• You have the right to demand that we delete your data (Article 17 of the GDPR).
• You have the right to restrict the processing of your data (Article 18 of the GDPR).
• You have the right to demand that we provide your data to you (Article 20 of the GDPR).
• You have the right to withdraw your consent (Article 7 (3) of the GDPR).

If you think that we use your personal data in a way that does not comply with the law, you may complain to the Data Protection Authority:
